What does a just and resilient food system look like in Vancouver?
Food policy plays an important role in creating a livable city for all: it touches on reconciliation, equity, and community resilience. However, food system issues, including food insecurity and injustice, decolonization, lack of equitable access, and the intersection between food and climate change, are not fully understood by policymakers and the public alike.
Ahead of the Vancouver municipal election, you are invited to join the upcoming virtual Food Justice Town Hall on Tuesday, September 27th at 6:30 - 8:30pm to learn about local food policy issues, opportunities, and the vision for a just and resilient food system in Vancouver. The event is open to the public and all candidates have been invited to attend.
This free event brings together the diverse perspectives of community leaders, food policy researchers, and people with lived experience of food insecurity who will share about local food justice issues, current food security and programming challenges, and demonstrate how investing in local food systems can support a thriving, resilient city for everyone. Speakers’ presentations will be followed by interactive community dialogue and Q&A period.
