Food Stash delivers fresh food to 36 community partners across Vancouver, helping to feed more than 10,000 individuals each week.
We work with our partners' schedules and program needs so they can serve their communities best. Seven days a week, our Food Recovery Drivers are on the road picking up surplus food from Food Donors.
Rescued food is considered surplus that was not sold due to over-stocking, cancelled orders, lack of storage, or not fulfilling customers’ standards in terms of size and appearance.
About 80% of the 120,000 lbs of food we rescue each month is redistributed to our community partners.
Effective January 2023, a nominal delivery fee is in place to ensure we can continue providing this service to the community. Delivery fees are based on the number of deliveries received per week and are calculated based on a small portion of Food Stash's actual costs to pick up and deliver fresh, rescued food to our community partners' doorsteps.
